Stream and beam photos wirelessly with the Samsung ST1000 camera

KUALA LUMPUR: THE new Samsung ST1000 is the world’s first point-and-shoot camera that comes with the three wireless technologies built-in.

The camera has Bluetooth, WiFi and DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) connectivity, which enables it to share photos and videos through many means sans cables.

With Bluetooth, users can beam images to compatible devices such as mobile phones while users can e-mail or upload their pictures online via WiFi.

The DLNA standard on the other hand makes it possible for the ST1000 to stream images to supported devices such as HDTVs and digital photo frames.

But that’s not all — the 12.2-megapixel camera also packs in a dizzying array of features, including integrated GPS and HDMI connectivity.

The 3.5in wide touchscreen LCD incorporates Samsung’s Smart Gesture User Interface with a built-in accelerator for quicker access to camera features via a simple tap or hand gesture.

When the GPS is on, the camera will automatically geotag digital images, pinpointing the location where the photo was taken for a handy reference.

The ST1000 captures stills and videos through its 35mm Schneider-Kreuznach lens, which has 5x optical zoom.

To ensure blur-free images, the camera has Samsung’s Advanced Dual Image Stabilisation (IS) technology, which combines both optical and digital image stabilisers, as one of its features.

When taking still images, users can make use of the built-in smile shot, blink detection and red-eye fix functions to assist them in taking better photos.

The camera also lets users shoot HD videos at up to 720p resolution in H.264 format. This format allows twice as much recording capacity as the MPEG4 standard on a given memory card, Samsung said.

The ST1000 (RM1,499) used microSDHC cards for storage but in case you run out of one, the camera has 100MB of internal memory as backup storage.
